Tattoo and PMU Removal Creams: Check the Claims Before Buying

A product that claims to remove pigment deep in the skin is not necessarily approved or safe.

Removing a tattoo or permanent makeup is different from covering it with cosmetics. Advertised creams and solutions may make claims beyond available evidence or approvals; consider the risk of scarring and skin discoloration before taking action.

An FDA Guidance Point

The FDA says it has not approved tattoo-removal creams, ointments or DIY kits, and has not evaluated evidence of their safety or effectiveness; these products may cause rashes, burns or scars. This is U.S. guidance, not Iranian regulation.

Do not attempt removal on your own

Avoid acids, abrasive substances or products claiming to remove tattoos without a reliable assessment. Discuss treatment options and possible complications with a qualified clinician; outcomes and the number of sessions depend on the individual.
